El Salvador With Highest Homicide Rate

El Salvador stands on top of the list of countries with the highest homicide rate at 108.64 homicides per 100,000 population. Most of the killings and murders in El Salvador are basically the result of gang-related issues and riots. Mara Salvatrucha, 18th Street, and many other gangs. According to Wikipedia, there are 25,000 gang members in the regions, and about 9000 gang members are in prisons. Women and children are mostly targeted by these gangs, they are tortured and abused. The reasons why people join gangs are that the education is scarce in the region and also when poverty kicks in due to unemployment, the young ones join the gangs as they don’t have any other choice. Families often have gang members amongst them, and they prompt other family members to join the gang too.

The instability in the region is the result of a civil war that lasted from 1972 to 1992.

Venezuela and it’s High Homicide Rate

Venezuela is also one of the countries with the highest murder/homicide rate and the capital of the country, Caracas, is one of the dangerous cities in the world. The high crime and homicide rate in the state is because of the political disturbance and instability.

Solution to High Murder Rate

The answer to that is to produce a fair and just system and to produce laws and policies to track down criminals using an efficient system of investigation. The main problem is of poverty and the social and economic imbalance. By just giving the punishments to the culprits, the problem will remain the same if we don’t address the root cause. A system that ensures the development in a social and economic structure is expected to make things better.

Restriction on Firearms:

Most of the scholars also point out at the fact that the easy access to firearms is also a factor in increasing the crime rate. For example in America, firearms are allowed, and most of the homicide and murders are committed by guns. But many deny this allegation as the firearms are restricted in Venezuela, but the murder rates are still increasing. As for Brazil, the gun restriction caused the murder rate to decrease.
